Phillippa Ellis

Philippa's practice focuses on portraiture, particularly musicians whose work has shaped modern culture, alongside a continuing interest in wildlife subjects.​

She is drawn to faces and forms that carry emotional intensity and presence. Through direct gaze, expressive mark-making and a restrained use of colour, her work balances recognisable likeness with interpretation, aiming to capture character, vulnerability and strength rather than idealised image. Philippa strives to create work that encourages a sense of connection between the viewer and the subject.​
