Nicola Briggs

Nicola’s work is an exploration of layers capturing light, textures and muted colours inspired by the atmospheric elements of nature and landscapes, evoking an emotional connection of well-being and relaxation to each piece and encouraging you to be present in nature.​

She creates hand built porcelain ceramics and atmospheric abstract paintings, drawing inspiration from natural textures, the shifting light across landscapes and a colour palette inspired by dramatic weather and moody skies.​
​Nicola handbuilds her statement ceramics from porcelain using textures, mark making techniques, layering glazes to react with each other to create a dynamic, interesting surface, embracing drips and finishing with platinum details. The Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi which embraces ‘perfectly imperfect’ organic shapes, torn rims, and intentional mark making is a thread throughout all of Nicola’s work.
