Henry Walsh
I have a wandering empathy for the imaginary lives of strangers. People are endlessly fascinating. I often find myself watching other people and thinking “what is their story?” My art aims to capture a snapshot of life with a myriad of stories to stimulate the viewers imagination. It is a fundamental need of a sane society to stop once in a while and wander from the routine, lift our heads and look at the sky or take in our regular surroundings with a fresh insight.
Henry was born 1978 and spent his childhood in the Suffolk countryside.
In 1986 Henry suffered an accident that changed the course of his young life. A gravestone fell over and crushed his legs. During Henry’s long recovery he discovered an interest in drawing and creating that never abated.
In 1994 Henry went to art college in Suffolk, then Loughborough University. In 2000 he moved to London and began working for the Curwen Gallery, helping to run an art consultancy and two galleries. Eventually becoming an Associate Director, involving him in all areas of the business.
In 2011 Henry and his family moved to Hayfield in Derbyshire, where he now works from his garden studio.
