Peter Davis MAFA is a prize-winning local artist. He is well-known for his urban landscape paintings, contemporary portraits and original drawings on upcycled paper bags. He draws inspiration from the people he meets and the places he visits, and his work reflects today’s societal narratives, including technology addiction, mental health, race and gender.

He regularly exhibits in galleries across the UK and his paintings are held in both public and private collections. In 2020, he was shortlisted for the John Moores Painting Prize, Britain's foremost contemporary painting competition; and he currently has work in the National Portrait Gallery, as part of the Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Prize 2024, one of the most prestigious portrait painting competitions in the world.

He is an elected member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA), the Contemporary British Portrait Painters (CBPP) and Castlefield Gallery Associates. In addition to being a practising artist, Peter is also the archivist for MAFA.

We are very excited that Peter will be producing some new paintings and drawings, exclusively for this year’sArt Fair Cheshire.
