Sheila Scholes
Gabi’s highly decorative ceramics reflect the tactile joy of throwing clay on the pottery wheel. The organic shapes, patterns and added textures invite touch.
The bowls and vases are embellished with imprinted pattern, using a variety of tools and traditional slip trailing methods. The focus and speed of throwing is balanced with the slow, mindful decorating techniques that follow.
The shapes and colours of Gabi’s vessels are a sentiment to her love of nature, especially the sea. Her aesthetics are also influenced by the highly ornate art nouveau style of her birthplace, Budapest.
