Janet predominantly uses acrylics, sometimes combined with other media such as papers and fabric to add depth and texture to her vivid and complex compositions.​

Janet records landscapes, still life and urban scenes, but is focusing more on her observations of people going about their everyday activities. Whatever the subject matter, she is looking for captivating compositions which draw your eye through the painting, breaking down elements into patterns, leading your eye from one object to the next, using line, colour and form.
